About the speaker

Dr. Debasisa Mohanty obtained his masters degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1988 and Ph.D. in computational biophysics from Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1994. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, USA. Since 1998 Dr. Mohanty is leading a research group in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. His research at NII is focused on development of knowledge based computational methods for prediction of putative function and substrate specificity of proteins in genomes and identification of novel biosynthetic pathways.
