About the Conference

An interquadrennial conference of the International Congress on Fracture is being organized at the Indian Institute of Science during its centennial year with the view of bringing together eminent scientists and practicing engineers to discuss recent developments and future trends in research pertaining to fracture and fatigue of materials. The conference will feature plenary and invited lectures by the leading researchers in the field. Further, contributed papers for both oral and poster presentations will be included. A wide range of topics will be addressed during the conference as outlined below

Scope of the Conference

The conference will cover all aspects related to mechanics, physics and micromechanisms of fracture as well as fatigue. Equal emphasis will be given to experimental, computational and analytical methods. In addition to traditional research areas like ductile, brittle fracture, dynamic fracture and damage mechanics, specific attention will be focused on the following emerging sub-areas of fracture.
1. Small volume structures such as thin films and MEMS device
2. Fracture in non-traditional materials - like BMGs, SMAs, metallic foams, FGMs, etc, and biomaterials.
3. Multi-scale and multi-physics modeling issues.
4. Advanced experimental techniques.
5. Cementitious composites: scale and size effects in fracture.
6. Geomaterials ; Earthquake mechanics.
7. Structural integrity: assessment and implementation issues.
